Dr Sanjay Popat, PhD, Chartered Psychologist & Mental Health First Aider
ABOUT me
During 2023-2024, 875,000 employees in the UK suffered from work-related stress, depression, or anxiety leading to 17.1 million work days being lost, making it the leading cause of absence.
This can lead to lowered productivity, higher turnover of staff, subsequently higher expense in recruitment and training, and increased litigation costs, not to mention severe physical and mental symptoms for the individual employee.
In fact, this costs UK companies up to £10.5 billion each year.Prevention of burnout and work stress is therefore no longer a procedural nicety, but a fundamental necessity for any business, large or small. Not only will it have drastic changes for your employees, but research consistently shows significant business benefits for companies.
This is where Wellbeing for Workplaces can help, founded by Dr Sanjay Popat, PhD.
Dr Sanjay is a Chartered Organisational Psychologist specialising in occupational stress, well-being, and mental health. He holds a PhD in Organisational Psychology from the University of Leeds where he won the award for the most outstanding PhD, and contribution to the field.
More notably, he received the highly prestigious Grigor McClelland Award for the best PhD in the field globally. His work has been widely featured in both national and international press, including The Guardian, Forbes, and Inews, as well as in print, online, and televised in Germany, India, and Nigeria. His work has been presented at worldwide conferences, TEDx talks, and leading podcasts. Dr Sanjay’s research was also published by the UK parliament and he has recently been asked by the British Psychological Society (BPS) to speak on behalf of the sector for the media enquiries the BPS receives, making him an authority figure in the field of burnout and work stress.
As Dr Sanjay has researched workplace wellbeing and burnout at the highest level, he is not only well informed, but has moved the understanding of these phenomena forward. This means he is truly an expert of his craft, not only reiterating his knowledge, but putting the findings of his groundbreaking research into practice in your business. Whether you’re a startup, small business, or large corporate company, Dr Sanjay can help you minimise the risk of stress and burnout for your employees.
But what makes us different?
01.
We put science at the heart of everything we do, making all solutions rigorous, tested, and robust, providing innovative resolutions to complex wellbeing issues. There are plenty of business coaches, mindset gurus, and management consultants out there, but Dr Sanjay is a qualified and certified Chartered Organisational Psychologist, reflecting only the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise. Dr Sanjay uses the most cutting edge academic research and translates it into useable insights for your business. Unlike other consultancies, Dr Sanjay takes the lead on each audit so you can ensure the best end result.
02.
In addition, Dr Sanjay has trialled and developed his own IAI burnout method in his world-leading PhD research, meaning no-one else has it! This highly novel method is used in each audit to identify the key wellbeing issues in companies, and Dr Sanjay is sought after for his expertise on this new method, which has even taken the attention of the World Health Organisation, who are wanting to roll out the method across Germany and other parts of Europe.
03.
At Wellbeing for Workplaces, we understand what works for one business might not work for another. Organisations are like fingerprints; no two are identical. We differ from the “off the shelf” and “cookie cutter” consultancies who give the same solutions to each of their clients. Dr Sanjay likes to take the time to understand the unique fabric of your business and what makes it tick, because only then can bespoke recommendations be provided that are likely to make a real difference!
